K&K Bio
K&K Music, formerly known as Kataleya & Kandle, is a dynamic Ugandan music duo comprising Namakula Hadijah (Kataleya), born on December 19, 1999, and Nabatuusa Rebecca (Kandle), born on February 22, 1998. The pair originally gained prominence under the management of Theron Music but parted ways in a notable and publicised dispute.
The Journey to K&K Music
Kataleya and Kandle debuted in the music industry as a duo in 2021 with their single “Muzibe wa Love,” released under Theron Music. Their fresh sound and harmonious blend quickly captivated audiences, establishing them as rising stars in the Ugandan music scene.
However, their journey with Theron Music was marred by conflicts that surfaced publicly in early 2024. The duo’s separation from the label was reportedly fuelled by a series of grievances, including allegations of unauthorised surveillance and non-payment for their services since August 2023. These issues, coupled with claims of intimidation by their former management, led to their decision to leave Theron Music.
A New Beginning
After a six-month hiatus, Kataleya and Kandle made a triumphant return to the music scene on May 30, 2024, rebranded as K&K Music. They announced their comeback through their new social media accounts, sharing vibrant photos of themselves wearing shirts emblazoned with the slogan “Back Like Never Left.” The post, captioned “Who missed us?” quickly garnered attention, signalling their eager return to their fans and the music industry.
Moving Forward
Now performing as K&K Music, Namakula Hadijah and Nabatuusa Rebecca are poised to continue their musical journey with renewed vigour and independence.
K&K joined with Swangz Avenue singer Vinka for their first song following their return to the music scene. The song “Tompa” is an upbeat mix of Afrobeat and Dancehall sounds.
