Ray G Bio
Born Reagan Muhairwe on June 12, 1992, Ray G’s passion for music began while he was still a student. He focused on his heritage, channeling his creativity into catchy Runyankore songs from 2009 onwards. His big break came in 2014 with the hit “Amarari,” propelling him to national fame. Sharing the stage with established artists like Eddy Kenzo, Meddy, and Jose Chameleone solidified his place in the industry.
Hailing from Western Uganda, Ray G completed his secondary education at Ishaka Adventist College in 2012. Though financial constraints prevented him from attending university, his talent persevered. A major turning point came with his collaboration with Spice Diana on “Omusheshe,” a song that resonated across East Africa. In 2019, he celebrated a decade of music with a triumphant concert in his hometown, Mbarara City.
Ray G’s dedication extended beyond entertainment. He used his platform for social good, contributing to a COVID-19 public health campaign with the song “Corana Distance” alongside Bebe Cool and Catherine Kusasira. This act of awareness followed a successful 2021, where he was awarded Best Western Act at the New Janzi Awards.
On a personal note, Ray G entered a relationship with Liz in 2016, who notably supported his career financially. However, in 2021, he married Annabelle Twinomugisha after she became pregnant. This caused a rift with Liz, who returned to Dubai. Sadly, Ray G and Annabelle experienced the loss of their second child later that year.
Ray G’s talent has been recognized through numerous awards, including Best Western Act at the Hipipo Music Awards and Outstanding Western Region Artist at the Janzi Music Awards. With a rich discography of solo hits and collaborations, Ray G continues to be a influential figure in Ugandan music.
