Ruyonga Bio
Edwin Ruyonga, professionally known as Ruyonga, is a Ugandan rapper known for his contributions in pioneering hip-hop acts in Uganda, with his first group winning a nationwide music competition in 2000.
Ruyonga was selected by Rawkus Records as one of the top 50 artists on the internet, and they helped release his second solo album, AFRiCAN, in 2007. He has collaborated with national artists like Brother Ali and Slug of Atmosphere, and performed with notable acts such as Lupe Fiasco, K’Naan, Wu-Tang Clan, Grieves and Budo, and The Roots.
Ruyonga is married to Sheila Yvonne Agaba, with whom he has a daughter. In 2013, he was featured on DSTV’s list of exceptional African MCs. He has worked with fellow Ugandan rappers like The mith, Bigtril, and Zex Bilangilangi, and is known for his standout verses in Ugandan cyphers, particularly the Vuqa cypher.
